
Kuala Lumpur, Nov 15 (Xinhua) -- IJM (IJM, 3336, Main Board Construction) has won a RM1.4
billion contract for a data center construction project in Putrajaya, Johor.
According to the announcement, the above-mentioned project is a "large data center", with a
height of six floors and a total floor area of approximately 62,000 square feet, including office
facilities. The relevant project is expected to take 13 months and be completed in September
2026.
IJM said that this is the largest data center construction project the company has received to
date and the fourth data center project it has received in Johor. However, IJM did not disclose
the details of the client who awarded the above-mentioned data center project.
Data center construction: Generating construction orders worth over 9 billion ringgit

After winning the above-mentioned project, the total value of the company's construction orders
increased to 9.2 billion ringgit.
These orders include multiple data centers, electronic and electrical (E&E) manufacturing facilities
and logistics centers, driving IJM's growth in high-value industrial and digital infrastructure
sectors.
Dato 'Lee Chun Hui, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of IJM, stated in a press
release that winning the latest data center project demonstrates the company's ability to deliver
complex and highly specialized facilities within a short period of time. By leveraging our core
strengths in structural delivery and execution, we can meet the demands of today's hyperscale
data centers in terms of speed, quality and scalability.

According to the latest information, there are currently multiple data center projects under
construction or in the planning stage in Malaysia.Since 2021, the Malaysian government has approved 25 data center projects with a total investment of 144.4 billion ringgit (approximately 22 billion US dollars). These projects are mainly concentrated in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and Selangor, covering types such as hyperscale data centers, enterprise-customized data centers and medium-sized multi-tenant data centers.
In addition, some institutions predict that within the next 4 to 5 years, another 4GW of data centers will be put into use in Malaysia.With the rapid development of the digital economy, Malaysia is becoming a hot spot for data center investment in Southeast Asia, attracting investments from international tech giants such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and GDS.
